Theme-Based Instruction in Chinese College English Listening Teaching: An Empirical Study

چکیده

As for college English teaching in China, students’ listening performances tend to be inferior their reading and writing skills many cases. Student’s competence attracts more attentions accordingly. Theme-Based Instruction (TBI) stresses that language course should organized based on themes topics, studies have shown its effectiveness some extent. However, there is no sufficient quantitative evidence show Chinese students. This study has been conducted a university Zhengzhou, which two parallel classes are chosen. One the control group other experimental group. The received traditional instruction, while TBI. results that, after 16 weeks of experiment, comprehension significantly improved compared with Moreover, TBI positive impact ability learning motivation. indicates TBI, if combined well-designed content effective practice, can help students improve competence.
